Sometimes we say, “I really want to meet some new friends.” And then the doorbell rings. We get up and go to the door, and we look through that peephole and don’t recognize the person. So we say, “I’m not answering that door, I don’t know who you are.” Right?
That’s happening in our lives all the time. We hold fast to the way things are, and then we complain that we want them to be different. But we’re so attached!
Do you know why we’re attached to the way things are? Because our identity is hooked up in it, and that’s all protective personality stuff. That’s all it is.
So, you want to get into the passionate self? For that, you need to step back into the essential self.
When consciousness is expanding, when your life is expanding, when you’re growing, an impulse rises inside you. That impulse looks like a void. We often hear “All the answers are inside of you,” and we look and see nothing. When this happens, it’s time to celebrate! That’s the stranger at the door. What appears to be a void is really more of you showing up.
Where do we go from here? We go in.
